FAI SOCCER SUMMER School held last week at Kilbrean Park was well attended by kids from surrounding communities. The camp comprised of lots of soccer drills and games and we hope a good time was had by all. One of the highlights of the week was the visit of the FAI delegates to see the facilities and watch the kids in action. The club appreciated greatly the visit and presentation of a shield to Mastergeeha FC by the FAI. Among the delegates were John Delaney FAI Chief Executive and Steve Staunton Irish Manager who made this an occasion to remember by signing autographs and standing for photographs.

MASTERGEEHA F.C. U. 10 Girls.
Killarney Celtic 2 Mastergeeha 1.
Our under ten girls travelled down to Celtic Park to take on the locals in a friendly game last Sunday. Even though they were defeated by one goal they gave a tremendous performance especially in the second half. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half we were under constant pressure with Celtic on top in all sections of the field. Celtic scored twice in this half and were it not for some great defending by our defence we would have been futher in arrears at half time. Having made some changes to the team Mastergeeha came out a totally different team in the second half. It was Mastergeeha who were now in control and took the game to Celtic. 15 minutes in to the second half Mastergeeha pulled a goal back when Megan OíNeill took the ball forward from midfield and hit a tremendous shot which ended up in the back of the net. This goal lifted the whole team and they tried everything to get the equalizer but Celtic held out for the win. A fantastic team performance especially in the second half. Our goalkeeper Aibhin Dobbins played very soundly. The back four of Niamh Fitzgerald (Capt.) Joanne Healy, Christina Buckley and Shauna Looney defended very strongly. In midfield Lynn Brosnan, Sinead Nagle, Katie Egan, Megan OíNeill and Clara Brosnan played their hearts out and never stopped trying. Up front Rachel Carey and Siobhan Moynihan gave it everything and made life difficult for the Celtic defence. It was great to see so many parents coming to support the girls. A special word of thanks to Noreen O’Connor of Celtic for all her help in organising the game and we hope to have a return game in the next couple of weeks.

MASTERGEEHA F.C. 2, CONFEY F.C. 0.
This fifth round National Cup match took place last Saturday at a sun-drenched Kilbrean Park in front of a large attendance. Mastergeeha supporters were not disappointed and were treated to an excellent game of football between two teams that displayed power and skill in abundance. The visitors, Confey F.C., are based in Leixlip, Co. Kildare and are highly ranked in the premier division of the U14 Dublin District school boy League. They fielded a number of players with international experience and must have been surprised at the manner in which the first half unfolded. Although there were no scores in this half, the Mastergeeha lads matched there highly rated opposition in every area of the pitch. Indeed, in the seventh minute following good work down the left wing by Jerh Sheehan, Mastergeehas striker Seamus Brosnan found himself with only the keeper to beat but shot narrowly wide. Another move in the 25th minute saw the ball moving quickly and skilfully through four Mastergeeha players from the left wing through the midfield then finding Ian Devane in the right corner whose shot hit the side netting.
Ten minutes into the second half mid fielder and man of the match, Chris O Leary, struck a pile dash driver from 40 yards leaving the Confey keeper rooted to his goal line as the ball whistled into the top right corner of the net. Mastergeeha were now playing confidently with the back four of Tadgh Ryan, Sean Daly, Joe O Donovan and TJ Moriarty dealing capably with anything Confey had to offer and providing plenty of cover for goalie Shane Murphy whose was also on top of his game and dealt competently with anything that managed to get through the defence. Mastergeeha had gained the upper hand in the midfield battle with the two O Learys, Garry and Chris, working effectively together and with Jerh Sheehan and Mike Hanifin raiding down both wings Mastergeeha kept the pressure on the oppositions defence. In the 55th minute striker Ian Devane hit a curling and dipping shot with his left foot from outside the penalty area and the Kilbrean Park crowd roared as the ball dipped under the cross bar and into the top left corner leaving the keeper once again with no chance. Mastergeeha used two substitutes bringing on Enda O Sullivan at half time and Padraig Nagle midway through the second half. While it is fair to say that the Mastergeeha lads had to play to the best of their ability to win, they can clearly progress further in this competition if they reproduce this level of performance. They are now through to the last sixteen of this national competition and will play Cherry Orchard in Dublin for a place in the quarter-finals.

MASTERGEEHA SOCCER U10ís:
Mastergeeha 4, Killarney Athletic 1.
Our U10's continued on their winning ways when they overcame Killarney Athletic in a gripping encounter in Kilbrean Park last Sunday. Played in ideal weather conditions Mastergeeha gave their usual strong display of attacking football against a strong and determined Killarney team. In the first half Mastergeeha controlled long periods of the game and put tremendous pressure on the Athletic back four. They hit the woodwork on three occasions and had a number of shots cleared off the line. Their first goal came on fifteen minutes when Ian Fitzgerald was on hand to finish off a great through ball from Damien Breen, with Damien Breen, Robert Enright and Derek Breen in total control in midfield our front three of Kelvin Teahan, Anthony Magnier and Ian Fitzgerald were being fed a continuous supply of the ball and it came as no surprise when Kelvin Teahan made it 2 ñ 0 scoring with a right footed shot. Just before half time Athletic pulled a goal back to leave it 2 ñ 1 to Mastergeeha at half time. The second half saw Athletic totally raise their game and their defence and midfield started to win more ball putting a lot of pressure on our defence. But our back four of Gavin Breen, Padraig Gleeson, Sean OíSullivan and William Maher and goal keeper Michael OíNeill stood firm and dealt brilliantly with everything that Athletic threw at them. Having weathered that early pressure Mastergeeha finished the stronger scoring their third 10 minutes from time through Damien Breen. The scoring was completed 2 minutes later when Robert Enright was on hand to finish off a flowing move involving four Mastergeeha players to leave the final score Mastergeeha 4 Killarney Athletic 1. This was another fine performance from a very committed group of players who are improving with every game. A special thank you to Killarney Athletic for giving us the game and hopefully we can return the favour later on. Team: Michael OíNeill, Gavin Breen, Padraig Gleeson, Sean OíSullivan, William Maher, Damien Breen, Derek Breen, Robert Enright, Kelvin Teahan, Anthony Magnier and Ian Fitzgerald. Training continues for all U 7.

MASTERGEEHA F.C. SUPER SEVENS:
The Mastergeeha U10's travelled to Killorglin last Sunday to take part in the Super Sevens. Played in Summer like conditions their first game was against Q.P.R. in a very close game Mastergeeha found themselves a goal down late in the first half having missed some great scoring chances. In the second half they piled on the pressure and their efforts were rewarded when Damien Breen delightfully flicked the ball to the net after a great cross from Sean O'Sullivan to leave the final score 1 - 1. Inter Kenmare were their opponents in their second game and what a titanic struggle this turned out to be. Both sides played a fast attacking game with goal scoring chances at both ends. Ian Fitzgerald hit the post late in the first half. But Inter kept on attacking but they could not get past Kelvin Teahan in goal who produced some tremendous saves and kept his team in the game. Sean O'Sullivan almost won the game in the final minute but his powerful shot came back of the cross bar and was cleared to leave the final score 0 - 0. We took on Killarney Athletic 1 in our last game and were always on top. Damian Breen gave us the lead after three minutes scoring with a left-footed drive. We were two up five minutes later when Derek Breen headed in a Robert Enright corner. Some poor defending allowed athletic score before half time. Even though we didn't score in the second half we were always on top and played some delightful football to run out 2 - 1 winners. Two draws and a win and great heart and commitment shown by all the players who are already looking forward to the next Super Seven Competition. PANEL: Kelvin Teahan, William Maher, Padraig Gleeson, Gavin Breen, Sean O'Sullivan, Derek Breen, Damian Breen, Ian Fitzgerald, John Fleming and Robert Enright.

MASTERGEEHA B TEAM: The B team played Castleisland on Sunday in Castleisland's home pitch at 2.30p.m. The first half saw a very strong Castleisland side defend very well using the off side trap to get back possession and reorganise their attack time and time again. Mastergeeha did have enough possession but did not have that cutting edge or the strength to even get a clear shot at their keeper. Castleisland had a great chance to go ahead late in the first half a scramble in the small box but Sean Curtin made a fine save. So it was nil all at the break. There was torrential rain at half time break and now the pitch got very sloppy but still there was very good football played, and ten minutes into the half Castleisland got their break from a bad clearance and the ball ended up in Mastergeeha's net. Now I was sure the heads would drop but they did not. Our lads really got stuck in trying to get an equaliser. Brian Devane out of defence made numerous attacks through centerfield and connected with Mike Dwyer, Mike made a run through their defence and was brought down outside the large box. Mike made no mistake, what a brilliant strike. We had a couple of more chances from the subs that manager Connie Doolan introduced in the last 30 minutes, Colum Guilfoyle, Patrick O'Sullivan, Ronan O'Sullivan, the fresh legs really put pressure on Castleisland's defence. Also sub Edmund McSweeney introduced with 12 minutes to go narrowly missed the winner with 3 minutes left Mastergeeha got a corner and Colum Guilfoyle got a great cross into the small box and Edmund got his head to it and it was cleared off the line by one of Castleisland's defenders. This was a great result away in bad conditions, well done lads. To all the players and their families I wish ye a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

GIRLS U16: Mastergeeha 1, Killarney Celtic 6. Mastergeeha played their first league game on Sunday at Kilbrean Park. Mastergeeha took some time to settle missing some great chances when finally Lisa Devane scored. Next Sunday girls U14 play the Park in Kilbrean Park
U/10: Last Sunday our under tens played their first game when they took on Killarney Celtic in Kilbrean Park. Played in ideal weather conditions both teams went out and played attractive football however it was Mastergeeha who controlled the first half playing a fast passing game. They deservedly took the lead on five minutes when Derek Breen scored with a low drive. Sean O'Sullivan made it two nil scoring with a powerful shot. Just before half time they were rewarded for sustained pressure when Damien Breen placed his shot inside the post to give his side a three nil lead at half time. The second half proved a different story with Celtic piling forward and putting us under tremendous pressure. We weathered the storm early on but between the 10th and 20th minute Celtic were back on level terms scoring three goals. With only 5 minutes left Mastergeeha regrouped and started to push Celtic back into their own half and Damien Breen proved to be the match winner running on to a through ball and cooly shooting it past the keeper for his second goal and Mastergeeha`s fourth to leave the final score Mastergeeha 4 Killarney Celtic 3. Both teams deserve great credit for a fine sporting game. Our thanks to Killarney Celtic for giving us the game. Team: John Fleming, Gavin Breen, Padraig Gleeson, William Maher, Derek Breen, Sean O'Sullivan, Robert Enright, Damian Breen, Celvin Teahan, Ian Fitzgerald. Training continues next Sunday morning at 11a.m.
U/9: 1 Killarney Celtic 3 Mastergeeha started this game really well with a great goal by Shane Mangan.. Mastergeeha kept the pressure on with some outstanding footwork by Paul O'Riordan down to the left hand side. Celtic equalised and then put game up to Mastergeeha. Mastergeehas defence were brilliant with great commitment from Philip Casey, Aaron Cahill, Darragh Brosnan and a string of great saves from Daniel Moynihan. Celtics relentless pressure paid off with two goals in the second half to finish the match. A great performance by Mastergeeha in their first outing as a team. Daniel Moynihan, Philip Casey, Darragh Brosnan, Aaron Cahill, Shane Moynihan, Sean Kerins, David Gleeson, Jamie O'Donoghue, Megan O'Neill and Paul O'Riordan.
Thursday October 13 2005
Our B Team played a very strong Killorglin side at home on Sunday and finished with a very convincing win 3-1. Each and every one of the lads gave 100% and in the end deserved this result. Brian Devane, Kevin Gorman, Colm Guilfoyle, Daniel O'Leary and Daniel Brosnan were outstanding throughout the entire match. Lee O'Connor put a great ball in over the Killorglin back line and Daniel O'Leary made a run and finished superbly. At the half it was one nil but this game was far from over. Mike Gorman came in for Donie Nagle and made some great runs up the wing creating great chances 10 minutes into the second half David Fleming cracked the Killorglin defence and made it 2-0 and soon after Colm Guilfoyle side stepped a few defenders and rammed home a great goal. Now 3-0 and time was near the end and Killorglin got a break and scored. 3-1 was a great result. Last Sunday our B team played away to Marian Park and were loosing 2-0 up to the last 10 minutes and then we equalised 2 all First goal by Lee O'Connor and the 2nd by Colm Guilfoyle. All the players played their heart out for 90 minutes and never gave up. A well deserved draw, best on the day was Brian Devane, Kevin Gorman Conor Kerins. Each and every one of the subs that were introduced made a great contribution for their part. This B team is off to a good start so far, and we hope it continues.

U-11: Our under 11s had a bright start to their season last Saturday winning 4-2 against Brendan's Park Tralee. Goal number one in first half from a pass from Kieran Murphy put Kelvin Teehan through and he made no mistake Brendan's fought back with a goal just before half time.
Connie Doolan, the manager made some changes in the second half and our lads really piled on the pressure, with some great moves from Kevin McCarthy, Christian Canty, Sean O’Sullivan and Kelvin Teehan just seemed to be at the right place every time the ball came across the goal, he got all four goals on the day. Well done Kelvin, a late penalty for Brendan's made it 4-2.
Darragh McCarthy was unlucky not to stop it, Overall a great performance from all the players and the subs that came on.

UNDER12 PREMIER LEAGUE: Mastergeeha 3 Kingdom Boys 1 Played in ideal conditions in Kilbrean, Mastergeeha got off to an excellent start despite missing a few key players after success in Germany. Seamus Brosnan had the home side ahead after just a few minutes with a superb strike to the bottom corner. At half time the score remained the same, however Mastergeeha started to play the better soccer with the aid of a nice breeze. And it was shortly after half time when Christopher O'Leary stroke to double the advantage and with about ten minutes remaining the same player added his second and Mastergeeha's third. The home side did not have it all their own way and in the dying minute Kingdom Boys were awarded a penalty, which was very well dispatched giving keeper Gary O'Leary no chance. A good performance by the whole panel.
Team: G. O'Leary, T. Ryan, D. Breen, S. Daly, D. McCarthy, M. Hannifan, C. O'Leary, I. Devane, T.J. Moriarty, S. Brosnan, T. O'Sullivan, Subs used: B. Fleming, D. O'Sullivan, D. Devane.
Mastergeeha Under 16: Mastergeeha under -16's lost their league match away to Camp last Saturday 2-0. The sides were level 0-0 at half time thanks to some good saves from Mastergeeha's keeper Sean Curtin and solid defending by the back four of Murphy, O'Connor, Brosnan, and Kerins. It was Camp who displayed greater urgency when the game resumed after half-time. They were rewarded after 15 minutes when Mastergeeha failed to clear their lines and a Camp forward finished the ball to the back of the net from close range. Camp's second goal 10 mins. later was a brilliant solo effort by another forward who gained possession just inside the Mastergeeha half and bought the ball to the edge of the penalty area before firing an unstoppable shot. Mastergeeha reacted strongly to this second goal and John Brosnan played a captain's role in moving forward from defence to midfield. His efforts were almost rewarded in the 70th minute when he hit a pile-driver of a shot from 35 yards out only to see the ball glance off the upright and go wide with the keeper well beaten. Despite strong pressure from Mastergeeha in the last 15 minutes Camp maintained a clean sheet. Best on the day for Mastergeeha were John Brosnan, Eric O'Connor, Anthony O'Sullivan, and Damian Doolan.
Team: S. Curtin, C. Murphy, E. O'Connor, J. Brosnan, C. Kerins, C. Guilfoyle, S. Healy, D. Brosnan, D. Doolan, A. O'Sullivan, S. Corcoran. Subs: K. O'Sullivan for S. Corcoran, D. O'Sullivan for C. Murphy, B. McSweeney for S. Healy and D. J. Brosnan for A. O'Sullivan.

UNDER 11 PREMIER LEAGUE:
Mastergeeha 3, Killarney Celtic 0.
Mastergeeha U.11 team continued their impressive run in the League with another good win and another clean sheet against a determined Killarney Celtic side at Kilbrean Park. They got off to a great start in this game played in ideal weather conditions when Noel Duggan pounced to give them a deserved early lead. Noel was also involved in setting up David Enright for his goal midway through the first half. In fairness to Killarney Celtic, they kept on trying but were finding it very difficult to create any great opportunities. However, they did manage to get inside the Mastergeeha defence midway through the second half but the outstretched leg of Shane Murphy prevented them from getting that all important goal that would have brought them back into the game. Then in the final minute Padraig Nagle scored a goal to guarantee Mastergeeha another 3 points in their bid for their first ever Premier League Title. Team: S. Murphy, J. Cahill, E. O'Sullivan, D. O'Leary, K. Fitzgerald, D. Enright, J. Devane, G. O'Leary, K. Murphy, N. Duggan and P. Nagle. Subs: (all used) D. O'Riordan and D. McSweeney.
MASTERGEEHA GIRLS: Mastergeeha 2. Killarney Presentation College 2. Team: J. Fleming, J. Looney, C. Devane, A. O'Sullivan, N.O'Sullivan, O. Bruton (1), M. Looney (1), M. McSweeney, E. Casey, M. Sheehan, C. Nagle. Sub: S. Nagle for C. Devane. Training Saturday 12 to 1p.m.

U. 12: Killarney Celtic 4 Mastergeeha 3
Played in excellent conditions on Saturday morning this game was a game that could have went either way throughout the game and indeed it was the away team that controlled the early part of the game but with their first attack on the counter attack Celtic were ahead and with the security of the goal started to play the better soccer and doubled their lead. However this sparked life into Mastergeeha and they were back in the game with an Ian Devane goal after he ran on to a great through ball and kept a cool head to slot the ball past the Celtic keeper. Mastergeeha now had the advantage and were level before half time though a great goal from the in form striker Seamus Brosnan. Celtic then came out all guns blazing and scored a further two goals but to their credit they kept fighting for a point and with a few minutes left a great corner from Christopher O'Leary lead to a Tadgh Ryan goal. This led to a tense few minutes but Celtic held on to all three points between two evenly matched sides. Best for Mastergeeha Daniel Herlihy was solid at the back with Jer Sheehan and Christopher O'Leary working very hard in midfield with Seamus Brosnan putting in a man of the match display up front.
Mastergeeha Players lead the Kerry bid to qualify for the Munster Final. Kilbrean Park was the place to be last Sunday the 16th as the Kerry U-12 team played a strong Limerick County side, as they tried to reach the Munster Final. Mastergeeha FC were well represented on the panel by John McCarthy, Christopher O' Leary, Seamus Brosnan, and Ger Sheehan, with John McCarthy on the starting team at Centre-Back. Limerick won the toss and opted to play against the strong wind, however the found themselves a goal up mid way through the first half when on a break out from the defence, they were awarded and scored a penalty. Kerry however were back on level terms Castleisland's Sean Brosnan scored just before half time. Unfortunately for Kerry, Limerick restored their lead from a free kick early in the second half. At this point, Kerry introduced Christopher O' Leary and what a difference he made when he came on, driving Kerry forward at every opportunity despite the gale force wind. Seamus Brosnan was next into the action and with his second touch he equalised for Kerry. Kerry continued to drive Limerick back into their penalty area for the remainder of the game and everybody thought they had snatched a last gasp winner when Christopher O'Leary hit a tremendous left footed shot that had the Limerick keeper beaten and appeared to be heading for the top corner of the goal. However, the gale force wind prevented the ball from crossing the line and the ball was cleared to safety in the melee that followed. Limerick held out for a 2-2 draw that was good enough to secure them a place in the Munster Final. Mastergeeha FC, however, can take great pride from their contribution to such a great occasion both on and off the pitch. Well done to the boys who played so well for Kerry, the ladies who provided refreshments for the big crowd and the club itself, as the pitch was still playable despite all the inclement weather.

K.D.L Division One:
Mastergeeha A. 2 Ballybunion F.C. 1.
Another fine result for John Kerins and his lads. Mastergeeha went up one nil through Tommy Brosnan who is scoring on a regular basis. Ballybunion equalised before half time despite John O'Connor having a very strong game through out the ninety minutes. Our seniors travelled to Ballybunion with a tight squad and some players had to struggle on to the very end to secure all three points. Ross O'Donovan scored a cracker from a Paul Lenihan corner to take the lead proving to be the winner in the end. Team: J O'Connor, T Cooper, E O'Donoghue, J Devane, P Barry, P Cronin, P Lenihan, P McCarthy, R O'Donovan, K Bruton, T Brosnan.

KILLARNEY CELTIC 2
After missing several chances our seniors finally took the lead by a RossDonovan cross-deflected into Celtics net. Once again clear cut chances were sent wide several times. After some poor defending Celtic were back in front.
Unfortunately, we could not retrieve the game and salvage a point. On theother hand there were some encouraging performances from Ross O'Donovan,Tom Cooper and Sean Doherty. GOVERNMENT GRANT: Recently the Government has seen fit to grant £40,000 to Mastergeeha FC in order to develop the facilities that already exist at Kilbrean Park. As a result of this dressing rooms and field development can be carried out which in turn will provide one of the finest club grounds in Kerry to the parish of Kilcummin.
With the club progressing at a fast rate we are calling on the community to give a helping hand in the running of the club. Many hands make lightwork. The more volunteers that assist the club officials that already existthe better the end result for the children of the community. If you can spare an hour on a Saturday or Sunday, even just to supervise a team, please do so. Whatever you are available to do it would be a massive boost for the club. If you are interested please contact your local club official.
Other Notes
MASTERGEEHA UNDER TENS
The under tens were also in action in Killorglin, playing two games and receiving a walk over in their final game from Camp. They took on Killorglin B first and this turned out to be a very close game, Mastergeeha never played to their full potential and had to come from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw with Ciarian Doolan and Michael O'Neill getting the goals. Best in this game were Padraig Sweeney, Kieran Murphy Jack Cahill Donal Maher and Michael Danes. Next they took on a strong Killorglin A Team. Mastergeeha gave a vintage performance playing some brilliant football and never letting Killorglin play to their high standard. At the end they were worthy 5-0 winners, the goals coming from Donal Maher Michael O' Neill (2) Ciaran Doolan and Jack Cahill, Best in the game were goalkeeper David O ' Connor who made some great saves T.J O' Sullivan, Christian Canty, Michael O'Neill and Ciarian Doolan. Panel: David O' Connor, Padraig McSweeney, Michael Danes, Kieran Murphy, Jack Cahill, T.J O' Sullivan, Donal Maher, Michael O'Neill, Ciarian Doolan, and Christian Canty.
