Mastergeeha took the lead following a corner by Kevin Bruton which was finished to the net by Micheal Clifford. The second half continued in a similar fashion to the first with both teams going close. In the 70th minute Mastergeeha scored the vital second goal following a through ball by Kevin Bruton which was finished well by Mike Murphy. In the 75th minute however the Tralee side got a goal back following a defensive mix up. U15: Premier League
Park 2 Mastergeeha 1.
The boys travelled to Tralee on Saturday to play a strong Park team. In the opening half the home side started well but the Mastergeeha defence stood firm with the team growing in confidence as the game went on. Ryan Carroll, Gary O’Leary and James Devane all had shots on target which were saved by the home goal keeper. However in the 35th minute the Park took the lead following a good finish in side the box from their striker. In the second half both teams created some half chances but the score remained unchanged until the 55th minute. Following a long pass out of defence by Gary O’Leary, Ian Devane ran on to the ball and finished to the net for the equaliser. Mastergeeha were now winning the midfield battle and Jer Sheehan went close to scoring on the hour mark. However in the 63rd minute the Park took the lead again following a defensive mix up. Mastergeeha boys again upped the pace in search of the equaliser. The boys were camped in the opposition half for the remainder of the match and were very unlucky not to score following a corner which the opposition failed to clear. However all the good play and endeavour was not rewarded by a deserved second goal. All who travelled played well and cannot be faulted for their effort.

MASTERGEEHA F.C: U16 Girls – Winners of the Guilfoyle Cup. Kilbrean Park was the venue for the U16 girls Kerry Cup Competition on Saturday. In the semi - final the home team played a good Killarney Celtic side and recorded a narrow victory of 1-0 thanks to a well – taken goal from Marie Sheehan. In the final the Mastergeeha girls faced last year winners Ballyhar. In the opening half with the breeze behind them the girls had all the play and created a number of chances through good play from Miriam Healy and Aine Riordan. Marie Sheehan also went close but the girls could not get the lead goal. In the second half the home team were forced to defend as Ballyhar put pressure on their goal. However in the 15th minute Ballyhar won a free kick on the edge of the box, which the attacking side scored with a well taken shot. Mastergeeha now upped the pace but were finding it difficult to create good scoring chance against a strong Ballyhar side. In the closing minutes in their final attack Emer Casey cleared well to Miriam Healy who passed a through ball to Tracy Coffey who finished well to the net to leave the full time score 1-1. In the first half of extra time the girls had all the play and Orla Burton went close to scoring only to see her shot saved by Ballyhar goalkeeper. In the final quarter the home side again went close hitting the upright with a shot from Marie Sheehan. With no winner after extra time the dreaded penalty shoot out was called upon to decide the destination of the Cup. However things did not look good after three penalties with Ballyhar 2-0 up. Then Aoife Doyle scored and Anne O’Keeffe saved well to give the girls a chance. Up stepped Miriam Healy who finished her penalty to the top corner and Ann O’Keeffe again saved well (score 2-2). Into sudden death in the penalties Ciara Nagle came forward and scored with an unstoppable shot. U15 League- A Listowel victory
U15 LEAGUE: Listowel Celtic 3 Mastergeeha 0.
This game played in Listowel last Saturday was tough fixture against the league leader. Listowel with the wind to their backs started the better with good possession in midfield and created a number of half chances early on. In the 15th minute they got the lead goal with a well taken shot from the edge of the box. They continued to dominate the play but some good defending and good fine goal keeping by Shane Murphy prevented them going further ahead. However the home side scored a second in the 30th minute following a corner. Mastergeeha then created a good scoring chance when Edna O’Sullivan went close. Just before the half time whistle Listowel scored again with an unstoppable shot to the top corner. In an even second half both sides created scoring chances. The Mastergeeha boys battled well in the slippery underfoot conditions with Ian Devane hitting the upright following a free kick early in the half. U12 League
Killarney Celtic 4 Mastergeeha 2.
On Thursday night last Mastergeeha U12s had the experience of playing a game under lights at Celtic Park. On the night the boys created a number of excellent chances but lost to a more clinical Killarney side. Mastergeeha’s first chance came early on when a through ball from Damien Breen to Sean O’Sullivan who’s shot was well saved. Celtic then took the lead following a penalty in the 20th minute. Just before half time Matthew Keane rounded the defender but was unlucky to see his shot go just wide. Early in the second half Celtic went two up. Following this Mastergeeha pushed forward and created three or four good chances but could not find the net. However the visitors did get the break through following a powerful shot from Matthew Keane which was saved but Damien Breen was alert to latch onto the ball and finish well to the net. Mastergeeha were now playing the better soccer and where rewarded in the 50th minute when Damien Breen scored again. However Killarney Celtic in the final stages scored two goals as the visitors tired. On this occasion the Mastergeeha boys gave full effort and had they taken some of the early chances would have got the result their play deserved.

U11 1st round cup clash
U11 LEAGUE: Mastergeeha, 0 Camp1 aet. On Saturday last the Mastergeeha U11 played Camp Juniors in this 1st round cup clash. The home side started well dominating the midfield exchanges and creating the better scoring chances with Padraig Desmond going close; however the score remained nil all. At the start of the second half Camp upped the pace and went close after 35 minutes. Following this Mastergeeha took control of the game through the midfield play of Philip Casey and Mathew Keane. In the 45th minute Padraig Desmond was put through on goal but was unlucky to see his good shot well saved by the Camp goalkeeper. For the remaining 15 minutes of the normal time Mastergeeha continued to lay siege on the Camp goal but could not find the break through. In extra time the home side continued to dominate and create the better chances only to be denied by the excellence of the Camp goalkeeper. However in the last minute of the second half of extra time Camp had a rare attack and scored through a powerful shot. This cruel twist left the Mastergeeha players with no reward for all their efforts and good play. All involved for Mastergeeha played with spirit, heart and style ably led by the excellence of Philip Casey. Team: David Gleason, Shane Collier, Daniel Moynihan, Paul Riordan, Shane Moynihan, Jamie O’Donoghue, Matthew Keane, Philip Casey, Aaron Cahill, Padraig Desmond, Jack O’Donoghue, Subs Tadhg O’Mahony, Brian Moynihan.
U15 cup tie
U15 CUP: Park 2 Mastergeeha 0. The U15s played their first game in a number of weeks away to last years cup winners St Brendan’s Park. In the opening half playing with the strong breeze Mastergeeha found it hard to control the ball and their lack of match practice was exposed in the 25th minute when the Park scored following a defensive mix up after a quick throw in. In the second half Mastergeeha’s play improved greatly with Ian Devane and Gary O’Leary gaining the upper hand in midfield. With the ball holding up better the forwards were creating more chances. In the 50th minute Padraig Nagle and Tommy Sullivan were unlucky not to score following a cross by Tadhg Ryan but for the excellent double save by the home keeper. Mastergeeha continued to play the better soccer but were two down when the Park scored following a long clearance with the wind. The boys never gave up and Jer Sheehan was unlucky to see his good free kick hit the cross bar. With the introduction of subs Mastergeeha pushed for a goal and towards the end got no luck when Enda O’Sullivan headed against the crossbar. In the final 15 minutes Celtic got back on level terms with a well taken free kick. In the closing stages the home side conceded a second goal following a harshly awarded penalty. The result did not give a true reflection of the game. All involved for Mastergeeha played with spirit and style and at least deserved a draw but this was not to be.
U14 victory over rivals
U14 LEAGUE: Mastergeeha 5 Killarney Celtic 0. In blustery conditions in the second derby match of the day Mastergeeha got an important victory over local rivals. Playing against the wind in the first half the Mastergeeha defence limited the visitors to only a few long range shots. With this platform and through some good midfield play the home side took a deserved lead in the 30th minute with a good finish by Padraig Nagle. In the second half Mastergeeha dominated play and with the breeze to their backs scored a second following a corner kick finished to the net by Kieran Murphy. With midfield playing well the third goal came shortly from the boot again of Padraig Nagle. Mastergeeha added two further goals with good finishes from midfielders Jamie Spillane and Gary O’Leary. U12 away victory
MASTERGEEHA: U12 LEAGUE – Listowel 0 Mastergeeha 2. Last Saturday Mastergeeha faced a strong Listowel side away who are in pole position in the league. The visitors started well and in the opening quarter following a long through ball from Anthony Maigner, Kelvin Teahan finished well to give the boys the lead. This tight and fast match remained at 1-0 to half time. In the second half Listowel pushed for the equaliser with all the possession but with some good defending Mastergeeha held them at bay. However after 15 minutes of the second half Mastergeeha got a deserved second goal. Matthew Keane played a through ball to Damien Breen who finished in style. This was a good victory against one of the stronger teams in the division following good play and great effort from all involved.

U13s in top of the table clash
MASTERGEEHA: Mastergeeha V Dingle U13 - Two weeks ago we played Dingle at home and we won 5-4. This was one of our toughest games so far this year or so we thought. Saturday 2nd Feb in Dingles home pitch and the weather was bitter cold Dingle once again started well with a free kick that went straight into the top of our net not touching anybody else, this was an indirect free kick not direct and the ref would not change his mind so the goal stood. Dingle did not hold the lead for long a pass down the wing from Jack Cahill to Ciarán Doolan and he put a lovely ball through to Padraig Collins and once again Padraig finished superbly. One all at the half. Second half even with the wind at our back we could not get a good break anywhere and again Dingle got a second goal from a very obvious off side. Its now 2-1 to Dingle and time ticking away. Jack Cahill was fouled 30 yards out to the right near the sideline. Daragh McCarthy took a massive strike and found the net, a great strike. Last six minutes both teams tried hard to get a winner and it nearly came for our lads, another free from Daragh McCarthy skinned the post wide, so that was it 2-2 draw, another tough game, another point and still top of division one. U14s Penalty Heartbreaker
NATIONAL CUP U14: Mastergeeha 1 Kingdom Boys 1 (3-5 on penalties AET)
This game played in ideal conditions in Kilbrean Park on Saturday last was a highly completive and close encounter between two fierce rivals. Early in the first half the home side’s jitters showed with Kingdom boys setting better with some half chance. However Mastergeeha defended well and limited the away side to shoot in from distance to leave the score at the break nil all. In the second half the Mastergeeha boys through good play and determination started to dominate creating a number or half chances. However midway through the second half Kingdom boys were awarded a dubious indirect free close in. They showed their clinical side taking full advantage to score through Adam Piggott. Following the goal the home team showed great character taking the game to the visitors. In the closing quarter Mastergeeha created the better chances with Gary O’Leary going close from a free kick. Both Ciaran Murphy and Enda O’Sullivan were unlucky not to score as the boys pressed for the equalizer. However the home side were rewarded with ten minutes remaining when Padraig Nagle scored following a rebound by the keeper following a shot by Gary O’Leary. Mastergeeha were now in command and forced a number of corners which had the visitors in trouble. In extra time both sides had good possession but no one could get the vital goal. Thus the dreaded penalties were called upon to determine the team to go through to the last 32. Again for all their effort luck was not with the home side with them making their exit.

Seniors beaten by the division leaders Fenit
Mastergeeha 0 Fenit 5.
Mastergeeha were well beaten by the division leaders Fenit at home on Sunday last. The home side played well in the first half and were unlucky at half time to be a goal behind after hitting the post just before the whistle. Early in the second half Fenit gained the upper hand scoring two goals in quick succession in the greasy conditions. Fenit finished the stronger team netting again late on.
U13s nine goal triller
U 13: Mastergeeha 5 Dingle 4.
This was a great match to watch, both teams just about equal in skill and fitness. Both teams started well and defending from both teams was tremendous. Dingle got their first chance to score when awarded a penalty, but were denied by our goalie Donal Leader with a brilliant save. Soon after Dingle did score from another great save by Donal, but only to deflect in off the attacking forward. About 5 minutes after Ciaran Doolan passed to Anthony O’Connor and he finished superbly .On the 29th minute Thomas O’Keeffe replaced William Leader and within 3 minutes headed home his first goal for the club. Then Dingle struck again with a great goal that really stunned us, leaving it 2-2 at the half. In the second half Dingle started the best, they through everything at us and
they did finally get a break-through with another superb goal. Now it is 3-2 to Dingle and time running out, manager and coach put together a few changes that paid off in the end, T J O’Sullivan playing a blinder in defence was not letting through, Jack Cahill put in a really good last 15 minutes putting attack after attack together and getting in some great crosses and was very unlucky not to score. Ciaran Doolan was getting a lot of possession and laid off some great passes, one to Daragh McCarthy which he struck from 30 yards and found the top of the Dingle net, and another back flick from Ciaran found Padraig Collins running through and he put it past the Dingle goalie with style. Soon after David O’Callaghan was introduced and put a great ball through to Padraig Collins again and made it 5-3 with a ball over the goalies head. Another attack from Dingle got them their last goal in injury time; it ended 5-4 to Mastergeeha. Another fine display from our lads, when the chips were down, they stood tall and came out on top, still top of the table in division one. Well done lads. Man of the match, the little man in defence T J O’Sullivan, what a game he had.
