Mastergeeha travelled to Tralee on Saturday last to face a strong Kingdom Boys side in the cup semi final. In the nervy opening stages the lads stood strong to the pressure from the home side. However in the 20th minute Kingdom Boys took advantage of some indecisive defending to score following a cross from the wing. Minute’s later following harsh refereeing decision Kingdom Boys were awarded a penalty but to the relief of the visiting supporters the kick went wide. In the closing stages of the first half Mastergeeha play grew in confidence with Padraig Courtney leading by example. In the second half a reorganised and more focused Mastergeeha team upped the pace to create some openings. Padraig Nagle went close following a corner from Jamie Spillane in the 45th minute. Minutes later James Devane went close with a good effort from distance. When Kingdom Boys did attack the defence stood solid with Shane Murphy looking very assured and safe in goals. As the game went on Mastergeeha pushed forward for the equaliser looking dangerous from set plays. Noel Duggan and Padraig Courtney were unlucky to see headers from corners just go over the bar with the keeper beaten. In the closing stages Mastergeeha created a number of half chances but could not get the equaliser.
