The U15s played their first game in a number of weeks away to last years cup winners St Brendan’s Park. In the opening half playing with the strong breeze Mastergeeha found it hard to control the ball and their lack of match practice was exposed in the 25th minute when the Park scored following a defensive mix up after a quick throw in. In the second half Mastergeeha’s play improved greatly with Ian Devane and Gary O’Leary gaining the upper hand in midfield. With the ball holding up better the forwards were creating more chances. In the 50th minute Padraig Nagle and Tommy Sullivan were unlucky not to score following a cross by Tadhg Ryan but for the excellent double save by the home keeper. Mastergeeha continued to play the better soccer but were two down when the Park scored following a long clearance with the wind. The boys never gave up and Jer Sheehan was unlucky to see his good free kick hit the cross bar. With the introduction of subs Mastergeeha pushed for a goal and towards the end got no luck when Enda O’Sullivan headed against the crossbar. This team can concentrate on their remaining premier league games. |
