MASTERGEEHA F.C. SUPER SEVENS:

The Mastergeeha U10's travelled to Killorglin last Sunday to take part in the Super Sevens. Played in Summer like conditions their first game was against Q.P.R. in a very close game Mastergeeha found themselves a goal down late in the first half having missed some great scoring chances. In the second half they piled on the pressure and their efforts were rewarded when Damien Breen delightfully flicked the ball to the net after a great cross from Sean O'Sullivan to leave the final score 1 - 1. Inter Kenmare were their opponents in their second game and what a titanic struggle this turned out to be. Both sides played a fast attacking game with goal scoring chances at both ends. Ian Fitzgerald hit the post late in the first half. But Inter kept on attacking but they could not get past Kelvin Teahan in goal who produced some tremendous saves and kept his team in the game. Sean O'Sullivan almost won the game in the final minute but his powerful shot came back of the cross bar and was cleared to leave the final score 0 - 0. We took on Killarney Athletic 1 in our last game and were always on top. Damian Breen gave us the lead after three minutes scoring with a left-footed drive. We were two up five minutes later when Derek Breen headed in a Robert Enright corner. Some poor defending allowed athletic score before half time. Even though we didn't score in the second half we were always on top and played some delightful football to run out 2 - 1 winners. Two draws and a win and great heart and commitment shown by all the players who are already looking forward to the next Super Seven Competition. PANEL: Kelvin Teahan, William Maher, Padraig Gleeson, Gavin Breen, Sean O'Sullivan, Derek Breen, Damian Breen, Ian Fitzgerald, John Fleming and Robert Enright.
